You know, so that people have any idea your book exists in the first place.
That should be enough, right?
And it's hard.
But.
It can also be kind of awesome.
Case in point: my writing partner (Mike MacDonald) and I set up a newsletter over the weekend that will let us easily send folks updates about our Choose Your Own Misery series (which are, basically, dark comedy choose-your-own-path novels for adults in which there are pretty much no adventures and everything always ends poorly).
By "updates" I mean "mini-adventures that we write to amuse ourselves," because why do the hard work of marketing when you can do the also-hard-but-in-a-way-you-know work of writing?
